Trauma affects so many of us. I am drawn to helping people work through their lived experiences. I have a great passion for the work I do, and it shows in my interactions with my clients. Understanding how emotional experiences can be life-altering events that result in a disruption in our personal growth is essential to treatment. I believe in the power of learning from our emotions and the ability to grow through our life experiences.
I am a licensed professional counselor in Colorado who specializes in the treatment of trauma and attachment wounding. I am passionate about providing impactful therapy that promotes healing, stability, and growth. With extensive experience in the field, I have helped many individuals increase their emotional awareness, learn how to manage distress, and heal emotional wounds from the present and past.

My Philosophy and Style
The impact our experiences have on our emotions, thoughts, and social interactions are vast. Born and raised in West Virginia, I was taught the deep-rooted values of honesty and hard work, which have guided my work in mental health since my first undergraduate internship in 2004. With a master's degree in counseling psychology and licensure as a professional counselor in multiple states, I have developed expertise in helping individuals and groups increase their emotional intelligence and cultivate greater self-awareness.

There are effective treatment options for healing the hurt of the past and present. |
My journey with trauma treatment began in 2009, when I started my training at the Intensive Trauma Therapy Institute during my studies at West Virginia University. I was shown that trauma is treatable and that there are effective techniques for treating it.
These experiences instilled in me a core value that therapy needs to create a meaningful impact.
As a healing-oriented therapist, I take a collaborative approach to therapy, prioritizing the creation of an authentic and supportive environment where clients can explore their emotions and experiences without judgment. I am skilled at identifying roadblocks to recovery and integrating resolutions into your treatment. With a direct and compassionate approach, I firmly believe that trauma is treatable, and I am deeply committed to supporting individuals on their journey of healing and recovery.

My Skills and Competencies
It is essential to develop a therapeutic toolkit built upon an advanced understanding of the cognitive and physical impact of emotions and trauma. I am continually furthering my development as a trauma specialist so that I can help you through your healing and growth experience. The impact of trauma and adverse life events on memories and personal development is ingrained in my training.
- As a Trauma Specialist, the focus on my practice is on treatment complex trauma and attachment wounding. Healing trauma is not just about looking at the bad things that have happened, but also the impact of the good things that didn't happen.
- As a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist, I can integrate this scientifically proven therapy that can alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. EMDR has been effective in treating trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and disturbing life events.
- As a Certified Trauma Therapist in the Instinctual Trauma Response (ITR), I received intensive training on identifying how we respond to trauma and utilizing that understanding to create healing and restoration. Using the Instinctual Trauma Response as a map, we can understand our responses, reactions, and behaviors as we cultivate our ability to heal.
- I view the body and mind as intricately connected, and I integrate this perspective into my treatment approach. Using Somatic and Emotional Parts techniques that help clients understand how their past experiences and emotions are stored in their body, I incorporate this understanding into their treatment. Clients can gain a deeper understanding of how their trauma and attachment wounds impact their current experiences and relationships.
- I have held a certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which highlights understanding the impact of past experiences have on the present moment to reduce reactivity and distress in everyday life.
- As a EMDRIA EMDR Consultant-in-Training, I help other therapists learn and integrate EMDR treatment and trauma understanding into their own practice. I work with and seek out other Consultants and trauma experts to build my own knowledge and competence so I can help others cultivate their own.
